Citizenship

Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova is defined according to Moldovan legislation in force as a standing politico-juridical connection between a person and Republic of Moldova, which generates mutual rights and duties.

Moldovan citizenship is reserved both on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and on the territory of other countries. Also is reserved on the territory on which the sovereignty of any other state is not exercised.

ACQUISITION OF MOLDOVAN CITIZENSHIP THROUGH ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

A person who intends to apply for the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, according to article 12 of the Citizenship Law of the Republic of Moldova, dated 02.06.2000, and who resides legally and permanently abroad, has to apply to Moldovan diplomatic/consular mission in country of residence, presenting thereby, the following documents:

The application is examined according to Moldovan legislation in force up to three months.

ACQUISITION OF MOLDOVAN CITIZENSHIP THROUGH NATURALIZATION

A person who intends to apply for the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova through naturalization, according to article 17 of the Citizenship Law of the Republic of Moldova, dated 02.06.2000, and who resides legally and permanently abroad, has to apply to Moldovan diplomatic/consular mission in country of residence presenting thereby, the following documents:

The application is examined according to Moldovan legislation in force.

RESTITUTION OF MOLDOVAN CITIZENSHIP

A person who intends to retrieve the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and who resides legally and permanently abroad, has to apply to Moldovan diplomatic/consular mission in country of residence, presenting thereby, the following documents:
